SOUTHEAST HAYES, a producer and DJ whose name is stylised in all caps to signify equality, hails from the vibrant city of Amsterdam playing up-tempo melodic electronic music such as UK Garage, Bass, Jersey, and House music. With a style that combines nostalgia, raw energy, smooth vibes, and a willingness to take risks, SOUTHEAST HAYES has curated a unique musical identity that resonates with a diverse audience. Born and raised in the culturally rich part of Amsterdam - the South East - SOUTHEAST HAYES was surrounded by a melting pot of musical influences from an early age. Growing up in the time when the internet first became mainstream he discovered the pirate radio recordings from Rinse FM and DejaVu FM among others and fell in love with the UK underground music sound. Being part of the early wave of laptop producers in the early 2010’s, HAYES has emerged as a prominent figure in the Dutch music scene. As a DJ and producer SOUTHEAST HAYES was part of infamous rap group ZWART LICHT as Hayzee. HAYES’s production was instrumental in shaping ZWART LICHT's unique sound. His ability to blend traditional hip-hop elements with electronic and experimental beats created a sonic palette that set ZWART LICHT apart from their peers. Touring with the group on both national and international stages and festivals they became notorious for their energetic live shows and leaving stages in shambles. Thus winning multiple awards for best live act and also an Edison-award (the dutch equivalent to the Grammys) for best video. With over 10 years of experience within the music industry, SOUTHEAST HAYES delved deep into music production while also honing his DJ-ing skills. Even though catching his first big break in hip-hop, he has not forgotten his roots and has spent countless hours behind the decks and in the studio exploring the depths of UK Garage, Bass, Jersey and House music and is one of the go-to people in Amsterdam for these sounds. It is not a rare occurrence for HAYES to play fresh music and edits made up to half an hour before his set-time showcasing his love for making and playing music.
